Want To Get Your RV Away From The Side Of Your Garage? Act Quick And Find A Storage Unit Today

If you bought an RV for your family and you don't want to store it on the side of your house or on your property, there are many self-storage facilities that can accommodate this large vehicle. Self-storage units are popping up all over the place and you want to be sure that you are finding a facility where your RV can stay and be safe. Here is a quick list of things to do to get the RV stored and put away for the winter.

Find a Safe Storage Facility

Call around to the different storage unit facility providers in the area. Ask these questions to find the right unit for your needs:

  • What type of locks are used on the unit doors?
  • Are there security cameras around the facility?
  • Does the facility have temperature-controlled units?
  • Is there a minimum monthly rental agreement?
  • Can you save money by paying for the lease in advance?

You want to know that the facility isn't having you use your own deadbolt locks and that they have internal locks on the doors. You also want to consider a facility that has deals for new leases.

Properly Winterize the RV

An RV that isn't going to be used for months and that may be exposed to cold temperatures should be properly winterized. You can go to a mechanical shop, and they will change the fluids and fill them, clean out the mechanical components, and more. This is worth the investment if you want to protect your investment and be sure that your RV will be ready to use when the winter is over and you are ready to pull it out of the storage unit.

Drop to Storage Insurance Coverage

Call your RV insurance provider and let them know that the unit is going to be locked away in an RV storage facility. This way they aren't charging the same amount as they would if you were driving it down the road regularly. If the storage unit is covered and enclosed, provide this information as well.

If you don't want to look at your RV in your driveway or around your yard, it's worth the cost to get a storage unit where it can stay safe and winterized, with easy access if you ever need to get inside of it. Drive to look at any storage facility before you sign any lease agreement to make sure you are getting what you pay for.

About Me

A Space for Everything Do you have a space for everything? Chance are, like many homeowners, you have more things than you have spaces. But if you try to narrow down your items, you may struggle to choose anything to get rid of. Here's a quick tip: you don't have to get rid of anything. For some items, the best space is a storage unit. These units allow you to hold onto items that you need, but that you really don't have room for at home. This is amazingly convenient. We love storage units, and we post about them here on this blog, which is all about storage.
